AI and Digital Twins for Smart Cities On 16–17 July 2026, Metason was invited as a speaker at the NVAITC Symposium 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand, organised by Chula AI, Chulalongkorn University, and NVIDIA. The two-day symposium brought together leaders, researchers, practitioners, and industry experts to discuss the future of AI ecosystems, sovereign AI infrastructure, digital twins, agentic AI, smart cities, applied research, and AI education — with Metason contributing on AI and digital twins for smart cities.

Digital Twin technology in AI-enabled engineering, smart city development, and future innovation On 16 May 2026, Metason was invited by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) CPD Committee to speak at the seminar “Engineering the Intelligent Future: Artificial Intelligence Applications and Opportunities in the Greater Bay Area,” held at HKIE Headquarters — the “Home of Engineers.”

On 6 March 2026 (7:00–8:30 PM), Metason spoke at the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS) CPD event “Empowering Urban Renewal Through Technology and AI,” held at the HKIS Surveyors Learning Centre and online via Zoom (CPD 2026040). Alongside Mr. Jack Lau from the Urban Renewal Authority, the session explored how technology and AI are transforming urban renewal — from planning and BIM submissions to construction monitoring and smart facility management.

Scientific Visualization of Large-Scale Time-Varying Data for Smart Cities On Monday, 26 January 2026, Metason joined the SVSC Workshop co-located with SCA/HPCAsia 2026 in Osaka, Japan (13:30–16:30, Room 806). Workshop contributors included Barton Fiske, Simon See, and Akihiro Kishimoto.

AI-driven, open-source Digital Twin of Hong Kong On 26 September 2025, HKBNES and the Hong Kong Computer Society co-hosted the HKCS Construction Tech Seminar, focusing on practical AI applications in Hong Kong’s urban development, Digital Twin technology, and industry readiness for the Protection of Critical Infrastructures (Computer Systems) Ordinance taking effect in January 2026.

Digital Twins for Science Abstract Digital Twins are accurate virtual replicas of real-world systems that combine sensor data with models to provide timely, beneficial information. Traditionally used in industry, the integration of high-performance computing (HPC), AI, and edge computing now allows digital twins to be applied in science and global policy. This includes areas like climate change, renewable energy, and healthcare, where real-time AI and uncertainty quantification can assist in life-saving decisions. Accurate simulations are becoming the primary source of virtual data, syncing with the real world across various scales, from subatomic to interstellar. The evolution from basic 3D models to near-identical digital twins is crucial for advancements in fields such as computational biomedicine, nuclear fusion, and factory automation. This workshop aims to bring together experts to discuss the challenges and opportunities in making digital twins a standard practice in HPC and to identify key principles for their effective use.
